Biography

Ulrich Kohler

Ulrich Kohler was born in 1940 in Bern (Switzerland). He began his piano studies in 1944, which he concluded at the Lausanne Conservatory. His studies of harmony and orchestration leaded him to compose (chamber and film music). He was a music producer and sound manager at the French Swiss Broadcasting from 1978 to 2005, and he was also teacher for musical sound recording and acoustics at the Geneva Conservatory (Switzerland) from 1980 to 2006. He has been a moderator of seminars on acoustics at the Lausanne Conservatory, member of the board of the Music Academy of Lausanne, member of the Society of contemporary music of Lausanne. He also has been a member of the Orpheus Competition and a member of the jury of the Lausanne Contest for musical performances.

He was member of the board of directors of the Jeunesses musicales of Switzerland from 1980 and served as its president from 2003 to 2007
