Editions Bim Prize

End of March 2010, French violist Adrien La Marca was awarded the Editions Bim Prize (250£ Sterling) for the best performance of Sonatine I for viola solo by Roger Steptoe, the required piece in the first round of the International Lionel Tertis Competition for Viola 2010, in Port Erin, Isle of Man.

Bio
Adrien La Marca (b.1989) began his musical education at the Conservatoire d’Aix-en-Provence (France) at the age of six. In 2005, he won first Prize at the National Competition for Young Violist in Lille; the same year, he matriculated to Jean Sulem’s class at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. From 2009, he studied with Tatjana Masurenko in Leipzig as part of the Erasmus programme. Adrien participated in numerous festivals such as the Merrick Festival in Miami, les Nuits pianistiques in Aix-en-Provence, Jeunes Talents in Paris, Musica in Strasbourg, la Grange de Meslay in Tours, festival de Cordes-sur-Ciel, Deauville, and Saint-Côme and Kuhmo (Finland). Laureat of the «Génération Spedidam» programme, Adrien was also a winner of the 16th International Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria (2009). He recently was selected by Gidon Kremer to participate in the «Chamber music connects the world» school. In May 2010, Adrien will play with masters like Andras Schiff , Yuri Bashmet, Steven Isserlis and Gidon Kremer. He was also admitted to the «Verbier Festival and Academy» in July 2010.
