About this Work

The musical genesis of this suite and its early drafts were developed in February 1995, at Richard Lane’s house in Patterson (New Jersey, U.S.). At that time, together with my Duo partner Sylvio Wyler we were honored to stay a few days in Richard Lane's house. Richard began immediately to compose the suite, and we were able to play through some of the earliest measures. He promised to send the finished, which happened in June 1995. Meanwhile, Sylvio Wyler had been replaced in the Duo by Harry Gamb from Freiburg i. Br. Germany, and this Quasimodal Suite was premiered in autumn 1995 in the presence of the composer (by special invitation) at a Duo concert given in the Principality of Lichtenstein. Otto Klingenschmid, Grinzens, Austria, December 2009
