Caroline Charrière (1960-2018)
Born 1960 in Fribourg (Switzerland), Caroline Charrière has accomplished flute studies at the Lausanne Conservatory (with Pierre Wavre) and completed them with Aurèle Nicolet and at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester (GB). During the same time, she studied orchestration and composition with the Swiss composer Jean Balissat and conducting (Lausanne Conservatory, Hervé Klopfenstein)....
The gregorian chant is part of my childhood memories. From that period forward, I have retained the memory of the sacred and mysterious character of latin, together with a visceral reaction to the unison chant and text inflection. These elements are strongly imbedded in the fabric of the Credo, which uses specific meters as numeric metaphors. Caroline Charrière, April 2011, Fribourg, Switzerland
