Arthur Frackenpohl

Arthur Frackenpohl ist ein amerikanischer Komponist, geboren 1924 in New Jersey. Diplomiert von der Eastman School of Music (BA, MA) und der McGill University (DM). Studierte 1948 Komposition mit Darius Milhaud in Tanglewood und 1950 mit Nadia Boulanger in Fontainebleau, wo er mit einem Ersten Preis für Komposition gekrönt wurde. War ab 1949 Fakultätsmitglied der Crane School of Music an der State University of New York in Potsdam und ab 1961 Professor bis zu seiner Emeritierung. Erhielt den SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching (1982) sowie zahlreiche Stipendien und Preise, unter anderen der Ford Stiftung anno 1959-60.

Arthur Frackenpohl hat über 250 Instrumental- und Chorwerke veröffentlicht, Arrangements, Aufnahmen und ein Buch (Harmonization at the Piano).
