Tulkun Kurbanov was one of the most active representatives of the Uzbekistan school of composition. From 1956 to 1961 he studied music theory and composition at the State Conservatory of Tashkent with Professor Boris Nadejdin and later with Boris Seidmann. From 1968 to 1969 he did further studies at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory with B. Arapov. His work includes 8 symphonies, a symphonic poeme and chamber music.
