Paolo Baratto (1926-2008)
Paolo Baratto was born in 1926 in Untersiggenthal (Argovia, Switzerland). At the age of seven he began trumpet studies with his father Alois, and then with Paul Spörri (former principal trumpet of the Berlin Philharmonic). The Concertino nostalgico
In this Concertino nostalgico the trumpet and the piano are treated equaly . The bright and heroic trumpet dominates the first and third movements, while the piano is leading the second. The cantilena is in the key of love (in D flat major). The inclusion of the term "nostalgia" in the title refers to those beautiful things in life which come and go too quickly.
