About Sonata
The Sonata for solo cello is written in a single movement. With a pared-down and refined style, Geghuni Chitchyan offers the possibility to the cello to reveal its full sound amplitude. In this sonata, composed in 1983, the melodies often acquire modal colors, evoking traditional Armenian songs.
