About Sonata no. 2

Part of the standard repertoire

Vartan Adjemian wrote the Sonata No 2 for flute and piano in 1982. The great Armenian flutist and teacher, Levon Aloyan, who was particularly enamored of the composition, edited it for performance, and then asked Tigran Gevorkyan, one of his best students, to perform it at the Congress of the Composers Union of Armenia. Gevorkyan subsequently recorded the work, a piece which has received many performances abroad and has today become a part of the standard repertoire for many flute players.
