Phrygian Phantasy is Rex Richardson's second work for trumpet sextet, written for the VCU Trumpet Ensemble for performance at the National Trumpet Competition. Drawing upon classical, jazz, and rock elements, it is an exploration of the unique sonorous characteristics of the Phrygian mode. It is dedicated to VCU alumnus Marcus Grant.
